Building on the existing concept of the converted Piaggio Ape truck, we collaborated with Dear Coco to design a micro-format version tailored for use in commercial spaces such as apartment lobbies, office buildings, or retail environments. Staying true to the truck’s original essence, we maintained the rear as the focal point of the design while opening up the ceiling and incorporating greenery to evoke the outdoor charm of the original. Additional panelling, lighting, and textures were introduced to enhance the truck’s warmth and create a welcoming, inviting atmosphere.
This particular location was situated within the lobby of a residential development in Kew Gardens, London. Dear Coco was allocated a compact area to house their coffee truck, accompanied by a small seating arrangement. Our goal was to create a distinct Dear Coco presence within the lobby, without completely isolating it from the rest of the space. A key consideration was ensuring the coffee truck remained accessible from the main entrance, while also maintaining the door as a fire exit for residents. To achieve this, we designed low-level planters, flexible seating, and a retail display that served as a subtle visual barrier for customers. Combined with a loose-lay vinyl floor treatment, wall-mounted signage, and additional window seating, we successfully reinforced the brand’s presence without overwhelming the space.
