An original Georgian hotel reimagined to create welcoming communal spaces centred around comfort, character and connection.
We were appointed to redesign the ground-floor circulation and shared areas of a much-loved boutique hotel, with the aim of enhancing the guest experience while remaining sensitive to the building’s heritage. The hotel has long been a social hub for the local community, hosting informal gatherings such as knitting mornings, afternoon teas and events, and the interiors were required to reflect this warm, inclusive spirit.
Our design takes a classic approach with a contemporary twist, using colour drenching, a soft balance of neutral tones with carefully considered pops of colour, and contemporary fabrics to refresh the spaces. These elements are layered alongside subtle references to the building’s Georgian roots, creating interiors that feel both timeless and welcoming.
The result is a series of characterful, comfortable spaces that support the owner’s vision and reinforce the hotel’s role as a place for both guests and the wider community to come together. Due to open in the coming months, the transformation will strengthen the hotel’s position as a focal point within the town.

We are a fit out company and required the services of an interior design company specialising in commercial design. I contacted Matt and Kayleigh of Copper and Ash who right from the word go engaged with our client and delivered an amazing scheme. For us as a contractor we were given all of the exact specifications and detail required in order to provide an accurate quotation bearing in mind the clients budget. Both Matt and Kayleigh were in contact during the design process to run past me the use of different materials and design ideas they had to make sure they were feasible and cost effective without affecting their design. Once we were contracted to do the fit out they were always on hand to assist with any alterations to design mainly due to materials and always came back to me rapidly. The whole process has been a joy and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody looking for an up to date wow design delivered by professionals that think outside the box.
