Our first collaboration with Wellspace Architects, we were asked to create a concept for the new Bubble Tea brand, Cake Story, located in the heart of Birmingham city centre.
Our first task was to space plan a layout that met the needs of the clients takeaway and dine-in offering, while also achieving maximum seating capacity. The property is long and narrow so we felt it was critical to have a clear customer journey. We introduced a low height dividing wall with bench seating to one side to help navigate customers from both entrances and separate diners from queuing customers.
The branding is soft and feminine so we felt it was key to reflect this in the design. We combined fluted wall panels, arched windows and a muted colour palette to achieve a light, airy feel and incorporated hints of black through the chair legs and ceiling to add an element of contrast.
